2011-2012


In Fall 2011, I am teaching my undergraduate lecture course on the history of American capitalism (History 247) and our introductory seminar for incoming graduate students in U.S. history (History 900). In Spring, 2012, I will again teach History 247 and will also teach a graduate seminar on the history of American capitalism (History 822).

Degrees Received

 
B.A., 1980 University of California, Berkeley.  I began as a physics major (click to see what I did as a work-study student), planning to do graduate work in astrophysics; then I discovered a passion for historical analysis and  finished with an independent major in the history of technology.
Ph.D., 1988 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Political Science, under the auspices of the Program in Science, Technology and Society (with emphasis on the history of technology, business history, and political economy).
